A hard, compact layer with small pebbles and a few pottery sherds embedded in it. In its northern portion, the layer is almost horizontal; approximately 1.50 m north of ^wall3, it begins to slope steeply southeastward, at an angle of approximately 30°, until it reaches the back of the wall. To the north, it abuts the base of ^wall1, while to the west it abuts ^wall2. This is an important layer, as it provides evidence for the state of construction of these three walls in the early ED III period. It is covered by ^dump1. The layer represents a glacis covering the surface of this particular area, which is distinct from the Plaza, located approximately 12–15 m to the south and, during this phase, 2.50 m lower. This difference in elevation is due to the presence of ^wall3, which functioned as a revetment or terrace wall. Consequently, all layers north of this wall lie at a higher elevation than those to its south. [Input: ZK626pC.j] |
